The Villageways way of doing things is that local village communities build accommodation for you and when you come they look after you and feed you. This way your tourist money goes directly to these communities. For our part, although the accommodation is pretty basic, you are well fed from freshly made food so the chances of illness are much reduced and you get to see parts of the country and meet people that the regular tourists don't see. The people are delightful and we felt completely safe throughout our journey.
