one of the most remote areas of the trip. In search of the Damaraland elephant- thought to be a subspecies of the African elephant adapted to the drier conditions. They are smaller in stature but with longer trunks (to reach underground water supplies), big feet (to cope with the sandy ground) and can mange with less water drinking twice a week (most elephant require 200l water every day).
